Executive insomnia: What keeps corporate America up at night?
A fragile economic recovery is underway, but the threat of another recession is only one of many things keeping North America's executives up at night. A panel of C-level executives from some of the region's top organizations reveals what's on the minds of industry leaders--and what they're doing to get a better night's sleep. This blog post from Automation & Power World 2012 sums up the session. >> Read More |

Submarine link
Oil and gas exploration is increasingly advancing into areas that are challenging to access geographically. The Gjøa installation, located off the Norwegian coast, is a floating oil and gas platform in 380 m deep water. To power the platform, a 98 km long 123 kV AC cable was laid from shore at depths of up to 540 m. One of the greatest challenges, and one which made Gjøa the first of its type, is the dynamic section of the cable that rises up from the sea floor to the floating platform. This must accommodate extreme environmental conditions and the platform's movement. >> Read More
