1.  OVERVIEW
----------------

Drive composer is a startup and maintenance PC tool for ABB's common architecture drive series such as ACS880, 580 etc. It is available with
two versions entry and pro.

Drive composer pro includes all entry features and much more such as data loggers, control diagrams, safety configuration and macro script. 

Drive composer pro will be available through ABB sales channels. Drive composer entry is available from ABB Web (www.abb.com/drives and select PC Tools)

Drive composer entry/pro are designed to run under the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems (32 and 64 bit operating systems).

The key functions of Drive composer entry are the following:

•	Connect point-to-point to one drive using Assistant control panel's USB port
•	Show the actual status of the connected drive
•	View, edit and search the drive parameters
•	Show modified drive parameters (Not at default)
•	Save parameters from drive to PC and download parameters from PC to drive
•	Monitor drive signals graphically and numerically (Limited functionality)
•	Control a drive
•	Use of workspace and customized parameter windows




2.  SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
----------------

Follow these instructions when using the Drive composer entry PC tool.

WARNING: Ignoring the following instructions can cause physical injury or death, or damage to the equipment.

•	When using the control panel of Drive composer entry, you can be far a way from the actual motor. Make sure that starting and stopping the drive and switching between LOC(local) and REM(remote) can be done safely. 

        



3.  PREREQUIREMENTS
----------------

• .NET 3.5 SP1 has to be installed on PC (included in Windows 7) with other operating system you can download and install from Microsoft's web page (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7)

• Correctly installed drivers to PC for Assistant control panel are needed. Instructions how to do it can be found from Drive composer user's manual.

• USB A/MINI USB cable (max 3 m) is needed for connection

• Free USB port on PC


4.  INSTALLATION
----------------

Unzip installation program that was downloaded from ABB Web to you PC.
Start the Installation program Setup.exe of Drive composer entry and follow the instructions.




5.  GETTING HELP
----------------

If you want help with Drive composer it is available from the following sources:
- Please read the User Manual, found from installation folder of Drive composer entry or from Www.abb.com/drives select PC Tools).
- Document about known problems is found from from Www.abb.com/drives select PC Tools). 
- Secondly please contact the local PC support persons.

6.  LIMITATIONS
----------------

Entry version works only point-to-point connection to drive.
